[NYC] Proof is in the Pudding #10: How Groth16 works

Join us as David Wong walks through Groth16 as a proof system: how it encodes computation into R1CS and quadratic arithmetic programs, the structure of the proving and verification keys, what the trusted setup is actually generating and why the toxic waste matters, the pairing-based math that makes verification constant-time regardless of circuit size, and how the system's design tradeoffs (proof size, prover overhead, setup assumptions) shaped its dominance. - Proof is in the Pudding is a live event and discussion series hosted by Archetype and zkSecurity at Archetype HQ in New York designed to educate curious, technical minds about the ins and outs of cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs. In this series, David Wong, cofounder of zkSecurity, author of Real-World Cryptography, and Research Advisor at Archetype will be providing an overview of the key concepts underpinning the various proof systems and use cases of ZK we see in production today, as well as guiding a group Q&A and discussion following the talk. Proof in the Pudding sessions are designed for developers and researchers who are curious about topics in ZK but have had limited time to dive into the details of how they work under the hood and how to work with ZK circuits. As a mental model, please consider these sessions as a 201-level course on ZK topics. Sessions will be intimate and invite-only. Sessions will be held live at the Archetype office in NYC, and the lecture part of each session will be recorded and later distributed digitally.
